Schaefer, Rowene (Marriage - 5 July
1952)
Miss Rowene Schaefer, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Charles H. Schaefer, became the bride of James Steffen, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Vern Steffen, Saturday morning, July 5, at St.
Bernard’s Catholic church. Vows were exchanged in a double
ring ceremony before the 9:00 o’clock nuptial mass with the
Rev. Raymond Schulz officiating.
The bride, who was given in marriage by
her father, wore a ballerina length gown of Chantilly lace over
satin. It was designed with ling sleeves ending in points over the
wrist and a sheer nylon yoke outlined with pleated sheer ruffling.
Her lace edged veil of finger tip length was fastened to a tiara of
pearlized orange blossoms. She carried a white colonial bouquet of
carnations and stephanotis, centered with a colored lip orchid and
tied with wide satin ribbon. With her bouquet she carried a crystal
rosary.
Attending her was Mrs. Richard Steffen,
sister-in-law of the groom, as matron of honor, and Mrs. Eugene
Lindau, her sister, as bridesmaid. They were gowned alike in
strapless dresses of blue net over taffeta, with wide lace hemline
and lace jackets. Matching, braided head dresses and opera pumps
completed their ensembles. Their colonial bouquets, tied with
multi-colored ribbons, were made with centers of yellow carnations,
surrounded by white baby mums and stephanotis.
Miss Mary De Noble, cousin of the groom,
as flower girl, wore a yellow dotted marquisette ballerina frock
and white ballerina slippers. Her headband was of white and yellow
pompons and she carried a basket of the same flowers, interspersed
with blue tulle.
David Lindau, nephew of the bride,
carried a heart shaped white moiré pillow to which the
two rings were tied with blue and yellow ribbons. He wore a white
dinner jacket and dark trousers, matching those of the men in the
bridal party.
Attending the groom as best man was his
brother, Richard, and the bride’s brother, Charles
Schaefer.
William Steffen, brother of the groom,
and Eugene Lindau, brother-in-law of the bride, were acting
ushers.
Mrs. Schaefer wore a white suit with pale
pink accessories and Mrs. Steffen wore a blue ensemble with white
accessories. Their corsages were of white and yellow carnations and
white pompons.
Schaefer home. The reception was also
there and a 5:30 dinner was served at the Sky-Lite club, where
covers were laid for 55 guests.
Mr. and Mrs. Steffen left on a wedding
trip to northern Wisconsin and Canada and on their return will be
at home in the Bill Steffen apartment on Second Street.
Both the bride and groom are graduates of
the Abbotsford high school, class of 1950, and attended Eau Claire
State College. The bride was graduated from the Taylor County
Normal at Medford in June and will teach the Cloverdale school next
term. The groom is associated with his father at the Steffen Super
